Build an insect hotel for a biodiverse garden - Children’s workshop
Ever wanted to make an insect hotel? Curious about the types of winged insects in your garden? Then this workshop is for you!
We will collect natural materials from our garden and make insect hotels to provide a home for flying and crawling insects that visit our garden.
We will also discuss the range of visitors our garden will attract and what we should plant to make sure they can access food and water and how to ensure our garden stays healthy for them.
Suitable for children aged 3-12.
Duration: 1.5 hours

Healthy soil, worm farms and composting - Children’s workshop
Join us for a workshop focused on making and maintaining healthy soil. Activities will include:
Discussion on why healthy soil is important and the natural components of healthy soil
Setting up worm farms with lots of wriggly worms!
Learning how to make healthy compost
This workshop is suitable for children aged 4-12 who are curious about the outdoors and living creatures.
Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer. Parents/carers are welcome to assist their child/ren.

"Get Planting!" workshop
Calling all budding gardeners aged between 3 and 12 to get into planting seeds and seedlings at FoodLab Sydney’s kitchen garden. Participants will learn:
How to handle seeds and seedlings
At what depth different seeds should be planted
How to space different types of vegetable seeds and seedlings
How to transplant seedlings to their permanent growing space in the garden
Why it’s important to preserve seeds and how to keep them viable
All workshops are 1.5 hours.
